Transcript: Daniel Ellsberg Says He Fears US Might Assasinate Wikileaks Founder

Daniel Ellsberg, the former US military analyst who released the pentagon papers in 1971, appeared on MSNBC today with Dylan Ratigan. He said he fears for the safety of Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, who is reportedly on the verge of leaking secret State Department cables. The Daily Beast reports that Assange is currently being sought by the pentagon, and Ellsberg advises him not to reveal his whereabouts...

  1. Back in Ellsberg days, killing him off wasn't a serious thought in the federal government, but the times have changed. Sure, our govt. assassinates (or now has the power)Americans or anyone who is a threat.

    That's why I would recommend everyone just read that new book out about a small town in America that stands up to federal tyranny when they try to kill off the whole town. It's a great read.

  2. that was truly an astounding video. the ramifications of this issue for so called "freedom of the press" and indeed all first amendment rights are enormous. Ratigan's final testimony to Ellsberg was simply unprecedented on bubblevision. Unless I am reading too much into it this embodies a major fissure in the MSM stonewall on National Security as an untouchable issue. Aside from all that, this is really some great drama as well. Great post.

  3. yeah ratigan does some very good stuff. he was excellent on financial fraud as well. wikileaks, hats off. i want to see those confidential cabels!
