Aboard the ships were more than 500 people, including European members of parliament and Swedish author Henning Mankell, according to the Free Gaza Movement. Israeli Navy ships have intercepted three previous efforts by the Free Gaza Movement, formed in 2008 to deliver aid to the territory by sea.
