An article in the Wall Street Journal quotes Ron Paul as stating the now obvious "he is not a socialist...he's a corporatist....[he] takes care of corporations and corporations take over and run the country."
One could however argue that subsidies for the poor in his health care plan offer some elements of 'socialism,' but the general tone and direction of his policies seems to be extremely ingratiating towards corporate interests, and always ceding great compromises in their direction. Sensible arguments and discussions seem not to be fitting for the American debate however, where it seems there are still masses of people just looking to find a commie pinko to hate.

Evil Bananas.
I was browsing through Cryptogon, when I caught an article on how Chiquita funded death squads in Colombia. If you follow the links back to the original article from Huffington Post on how Attorney General Eric Holder was one of the lawyers involved in getting Chiquita out of trouble on that one, you find the shocking statement that Chiquita's payments of money and guns to the Colombian paramilitaries led to the murder of 4000 civilians in Colombia.
So next time you eat that yummy, healthy Chiquita banana, just know that thousands of people have died for the greed of the company that brought it to you. Not that the banana itself is really to blame, the sick and corrupt corporations are.
Nonetheless, that banana is bleeding buckets of red blood.

Seattle Times Says "Soldiers Did As Instructed"
One newspaper at least is apparently taking their role to be defending the actions of today's troops at all costs. It's the video games that are to blame, according to The Seattle Times. The action of the troops "although horrific, is understandable...The gunners did exactly as they were taught by the video-game industry and the U.S. military."
Not assigning any blame to the U.S. troops and the military command structure above them has become a kind of mantra in the U.S. born perhaps partly out of guilt for the real and supposed mistreatment of Vietnam veterans. So today many live in a fantasy world where U.S. soldiers and even the U.S. military can do no wrong. This attitude itself, helps to put soldiers above any moral law or rules of engagement and allows the mindless and cold-blooded killing of innocent people seen in the recent Wikileaks video.

U.S. Supported Repressive Regime In Flames in Kyrgyzstan; Important Manas Air Base Future Threatened
The opposition is claiming that at least 100 have died in protests there. Russia today is reporting the government of Kyrgyzstan is stepping down. This most likely will spell trouble for the Manas Air Base, an important U.S. support base for the Afganistan conflict and according to the Christian Science Monitor, the "only air base the US has access to in Central Asia." It was only the repressive regime which has now stepped down which was allowing the U.S. to continue to operate the base.
Wikileaks' Home Run, And The Fans Are Cheering
A quick look this morning at some of the comments on the New York Times or Time Magazine articles on Collateral Murder, and one can see how many people throughout the world are relieved that someone, somewhere is carrying the torch of investigative journalism forward into the darkness of the War on Terror.
Afterall, unlike what Bush Administration member James P. Pinkerton writes about the soldiers from Hurt Locker that "the warriors are presented as better versions of ourselves," the soldiers displayed in Collateral Murder are creepy and clearly display a wanton blood lust to kill innocent people. Collateral Murder is real, The Hurt Locker, was a work of fiction. That these soldiers from the Wikileaks video will one day come back to the U.S. and some might end up being police officers doesn't bode well for our country. The video does even more harm to an already battered U.S. image abroad. But the image isn't the problem, the reality is.
The actions of Wikileaks, and their whistleblowers inside the military, to get this video to the public show how powerful a group can be fighting against the blood lust of the Military-industrial complex, the media controlled by it, and the neoconservatives that wantonly support it.
Satan isn't happy about this one.

Delusional General Defends Brutal Murder of Reuters Journalists And Iraqi Civilians
Does the good general also believe it is good to murder wounded civilians and those trying to help them? It must be also All-American now to shoot at children. America is totally and utterly morally, intellectually, and financially lost.
The Coward Locker

Cowards
Percent of civilian deaths:
WWI -- 14%
WWII -- 67%
1989-2005 -- 90%
Anyone who joins the military in the 21st century will become a participant in the mass killing of innocent civilians. The average US soldier makes Jeffrey Dahmer look like a humanitarian. This is not meant in jest. Soldiers may not eat their victims like Mr. Dahmer, but the body count of the US military makes your average serial killer look like a common criminal.
Baby killers? You betcha. This is not "war". This is mass butchery. The "soldiers" in the video have clearly been brainwashed to take delight in the practice of mass murder. They kill humans with the relish of a sadistic child burning ants with a magnifying glass. The new "video game" style of "war" is the height of cowardice. There isn't a trace of honor in the activities of these men.
Blaming soldiers for war is a little like blaming McDonald's employees for factory farming. Most of them come from poor backgrounds and are economically blackmailed into becoming killers. So long as there are large disparities in wealth there will be a steady stream of bodies to feed the maw of the military machine. Nevertheless, I think it's important we emphasize that the soldier's profession is a despicable one. Parents need to teach this to their children. These individuals do not deserve respect but repudiation. This has nothing to do with self-defense. The heroes are on the side of the resistance.

"GOOD SHOOT'N" : VIDEO OF U.S. MILITARY MURDER OF REUTERS JOURNALISTS AND IRAQI CIVILIANS
The Wikileaks video the Pentagon didn't want to come out. This is one of the most disgusting videos I've ever seen. I am truly ashamed to be from the same country as these sadistic killers.
This is what the U.S. is doing in Central Asia. Not just the military men involved here, but all the neoconservatives from Bill Kristol to Wolfowitz and Dick Cheney are murderers with an ocean of blood on their hands. Damn them forever to eternity in Hell.
They cold-bloodedly even open fire on those trying to save the wounded. Pure evil, made in the U.S.A. Most important post ever on this blog.
If you would like more details on the footage, here is a link to the original Wikileaks page for the video.
An interesting discussion of this horrible video is on msnbc below where Dylan Ratigan is clearly choking on his words:
Despite what Dylan Ratigan says, it is clear there is a disgusting bloodlust in the voices of the soldiers involved which is disturbing and indefensible.
And if that's not enough for you, here is an article on Cryptogon with more gruesome details of our troops at work in an unrelated event.

Chaos On The Grand Chessboard Part II
Karzai threatens to join the Taliban.
A recent New York Times headline "Karzai Steps Up Attacks on NATO, Boxing In the West" is almost an understatement. The article details the developing deterioration between Karzai and his Western backers. As the article states "Many fear the relationship is only likely to become worse, as Mr. Karzai draws closer to allies like Iran and China, whose interests are often at odds with those of the West, and sounds sympathetic enough to the Taliban that he could spur their efforts, helping their recruitment and further destablizing the country"
It gets even worse. An unnamed member of the Afghan parliament speaking on condition of anonymity told the newspaper that Karzai said in a parliamentary meeting "If you and the international community pressure me more, I swear that I am going to join the Taliban."

Chaos On The Grand Chessboard
An article in The Majlis, makes the case that the recent 'anti-western' elements of a speech by Afgan leader Hamid Karzai, are actually not so inexplicable after all.
Most of the establishment in the U.S. has been just oh so insulted by the words of their own puppet government leader Karzai, who turned his head upwards into the darkness where the strings are coming from and shouted out a "Not so fast." And perhaps he is feeling some heat as Nato has recently turned its possibly lethal gaze towards his mafia brother, who is accused of corruption and involvement in the drug trade.
Is Karzai inexplicable and as Mark Shields said on the PBS Newshour "just an enigma to me"?
Was the US involved itself in election fraud in Afganistan as Karzai claims? Or is Karzai just playing a high stakes propaganda game with his international backers? Whatever election fraud there was seems to have been in his favor. There has been a tug of war over who should sit on an election watchdog group, Karzai wanting total control of the group which originally had three out of five members from the U.N.
Though the details of the truth here is an interesting nut to try to crack, an old article in the Nation from many months ago had this to say:
The machinations required to maintain Hamid Karzai in a position to enrich himself and his favored warlords -- even when it involves making excuses for electoral fraud and worse -- are precisely the sort of "entangling alliance" about which George Washington warned in his farewell address to a young nation.

Washington Post Now Also Weighs in on Obvious Swine Flu Scandal
"Millions of H1N1 vaccine doses may have to be discarded" is the headline in the Washington Post as they join the choir admitting that the Swine Flu was not all it was cooked up to be
What a shame. Too bad the profiteers didn't get to inject as many of us as they wished with their mercury love potions. Maybe they will do better next time and the Washington Post can celebrate their success.
On Infowars.com an article from Business & Media Institute goes over some of the media hype leading up to the swine flu vaccination effort.

Increased Intelligence Checks In Answer To Christmas Bomber, Only Did Anyone Tell Obama It Was Intelligence Who Purposefully Didn't Revoke His Visa?
An article in the New York Times explains how new security protocols for people flying to the United States, establishes "a system that uses intelligence information and assessment of threats to identify passengers who could have links to terrorism, a senior administration official said Thursday. The new approach will replace a broader layer of extra scrutiny that had been imposed recently on all passengers from 14 countries, most of which are Muslim. The change, which will be announced Friday by the Department of Homeland Security, is the result of a review of security at international airports ordered by Mr. Obama after the Christmas Day attempt to blow up a jetliner bound for Detroit."
Ok, so no more extra scrutiny for those from muslim countries, and now we are back to everyone is a suspect and more intelligence "assessment of threats."
But there is one important bit of information here being completely overlooked. An unnamed U.S. intelligence agency KNEW about the Christmas Bomber and asked the State Department NOT to revoke his visa when they wanted to after being warned by the bomber's father.
I covered that months ago in this post.
So more intelligence, or more screening would have done nothing, as one of our intelligence agencies purposefully wanted the suspect to have his visa to travel to the U.S.
Of course the New York Times would probably just call that a 'conspiracy theory'. Another article in the newspaper seems to link the new film by Roman Polanski, The Ghost Writer, about a Prime Minister linked with CIA torture and War on Terror corruption, with other conspiracy movies as " crude and heavy-handed, their formulations absurd, even outrageous." But the New York Times article is much more itself an outrageous piece of heavy-handed rebuking of anyone who challenges the 'official stories' its writer Sam Tanenhaus seems to find so comforting and without doubt.

Claims That Mumbai Terrorist Headley Was DEA Agent, Had US Intelligence Links
Ambassador M K Bhadrakumar discusses possible U.S. intelligence links of Mumbai terrorist David Coleman Headley in an article in Asia Times. According to Bhadrakumar he "had a criminal record in the US from 1989 as a conspirator to import heroin and spent a total of six years in prison as a result of four convictions. He was later recruited as an agent by US drug-enforcement authorities, who after the 9/11 attacks in the US coordinated closely with the Central Intelligence Agency."

Other articles on the web such as this one claim that he was a U.S. Drug Enforcement(DEA) agent for many years.

Man Accused of Threats on 'Radical' Website Lives on Naval Base; IP Address Reported Stolen

The radical neo-fascist news organization Fox News alleges someone left a threatening comment on what they are calling a 'radical' website, Infowars.com. Fox news found the comment and reported it to authorities, according to Prison Planet.
The person who allegedly left the threatening comment happened to live on a naval base in Tennessee.
Investigators with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service have seized the man's shotgun and taken it to the armory at the Naval Support Activity Mid-South base in Millington, Tenn. The firearm will be stored there while the agency's probe continues...Even though he is a civilian, the man is living on a military base, making him subject to the rules of that base. The commanding officer has the authority to take any weapons that are on the base — whether they belong to a member of the military or a civilian — and store them at the armory. For the same reason, NCIS has the authority to arrest him.
Of possible great significance is the fact that one day ago, Alex Jones, owner of Infowars.com, talked on his radio show about someone who had called him from a military base complaining someone else had stolen their IP address and was making comments with it on one of his websites.
Author's Note: Though certainly coming from a libertarian base, both infowars.com and prisonplanet.com offer news and alternative perspectives outside of the classic left/right football game. Many liberals are guests on their shows and the perspectives of their audience and visitors is wide. The sites never condone violence or racism. I don't know what people want to call radical today, but certainly the warmongering mainstream news organizations of today are inherently more 'radical' in their approach then the varied fare one receives from these alternative sites.
WMDs, IEDs, Who Cares? Nobody Reads...

Read all about it. A bunch of crazy muffins the government said were getting ready to take over the country with their WMDs were arrested. Or do they mean IEDs? Sounds more like the latter since the article explains the WMDs they mean are "explosively formed projectiles." That's used in an IED or roadside bomb apparently. Has its own Wikipedia page.
Makes for great headlines like this one: "Radical Christian Extremists Arrested for Planning WMD Attack"
So I guess Saddam had some WMDs afterall...not nukes, or chemical weapons, but maybe a few of these projectiles lying around to threaten the world with.
Of course the FBI admits to having an 'undercover agent' in the group.
Wait don't tell me...he bought the projectiles of mass destruction?
