"Riding With The Bad Boys"; The In-Your-Face Terror Of America
The last article from Cryptogon mentions P2OG, or Proactive, Preemptive Operations Group.
The link from there leads to an article on a blog by Chris Floyd which quotes a New Yorker article by Seymour Hersh from 2005.
We have shown in Of Goats And Men how much of the "domestic terrorism", which validates the existance of Homeland Security, fusion centers and domestic surveillance, is actually created by the FBI through the use of informants who engineer the terror themselves with the help of willing dupes caught in sting operations. Often these dupes are reluctant to carry out the terror activities assigned to them by the FBI, so the FBI often entices them with rewards, in one case offering to help with a liver transplant for a sick relative if the mission is accomplished.
Well perhaps the foreign counterpart to this domestic fakery of terror would be the P2OG's. Their purpose, like their domestic counterparts, is to goad foreigners on foreign soil to commit terror, thus validating the foreign war element of the orchestrated and farcical War On Terror.
To quote Chris Floyd:
More than two years ago, we wrote here of a secret Pentagon plan to foment terrorism: sending covert agents to infiltrate terrorist groups and goad them into action – i.e., committing acts of murder and destruction. The purpose was two-fold: first, to bring the terrorist groups into the open, where they could be counterattacked; and second, to justify U.S. military attacks on the countries where the terrorists were operating – attacks which, in the Pentagon's words, would put those nations' "sovereignty at risk." It was a plan that countenanced – indeed, encouraged – the deliberate murder of innocent people and the imposition of U.S. military rule anywhere in the world that American leaders desired.
This plan is now being activated.
In fact, it's being expanded, as the New Yorker's Seymour Hersh revealed last week. Not only will U.S.-directed agents infiltrate existing terrorist groups and provoke them into action; the Pentagon itself will create its own terrorist groups and "death squads." After establishing their terrorist "credentials" through various atrocities and crimes, these American-run groups will then be able to ally with – and ultimately undermine – existing terrorist groups.
And to quote the original Seymour Hersh article:
...Under Rumsfeld’s new approach, I was told, U.S. military operatives would be permitted to pose abroad as corrupt foreign businessmen seeking to buy contraband items that could be used in nuclear-weapons systems. In some cases, according to the Pentagon advisers, local citizens could be recruited and asked to join up with guerrillas or terrorists. This could potentially involve organizing and carrying out combat operations, or even terrorist activities...
The new rules will enable the Special Forces community to set up what it calls “action teams” in the target countries overseas which can be used to find and eliminate terrorist organizations. “Do you remember the right-wing execution squads in El Salvador?” the former high-level intelligence official asked me, referring to the military-led gangs that committed atrocities in the early nineteen-eighties. “We founded them and we financed them,” he said. “The objective now is to recruit locals in any area we want. And we aren’t going to tell Congress about it.” A former military officer, who has knowledge of the Pentagon’s commando capabilities, said, “We’re going to be riding with the bad boys.”

British intelligence denies US terror warnings sparked by new info

US warning of commando terror attacks in Europe irritates European officials, who say no evidence plot is imminent
...European officials again made it clear yesterday they were "irritated" with the US for leaking stories before they could gather more intelligence. There was no evidence that a plot was imminent, and intelligence was described by a well-placed Whitehall official as "ill-defined"....

Wikileaks Leaked CIA Paper: What If Foreigners See the United States as an “Exporter of Terrorism”?
This paper seems strangely "mundane" as Wired put it. Not sure what the significance of it is, if there is some. Perhaps this was simply getting back to regular business.

This CIA "Red Cell" report from February 2, 2010, looks at what will happen if it is internationally understood that the United States is an exporter of terrorism; 'Contrary to common belief, the American export of terrorism or terrorists is not a recent phenomenon, nor has it been associated only with Islamic radicals or people of Middle Eastern, African or South Asian ethnic origin. This dynamic belies the American belief that our free, open and integrated multicultural society lessens the allure of radicalism and terrorism for US citizens.' The report looks at a number cases of US exported terrorism, including attacks by US based or financed Jewish, Muslim and Irish-nationalism terrorists. It concludes that foreign perceptions of the US as an "Exporter of Terrorism" together with US double standards in international law, may lead to noncooperation in renditions (including the arrest of CIA officers) and the decision to not share terrorism related intelligence with the United States.

Claims That Mumbai Terrorist Headley Was DEA Agent, Had US Intelligence Links
Ambassador M K Bhadrakumar discusses possible U.S. intelligence links of Mumbai terrorist David Coleman Headley in an article in Asia Times. According to Bhadrakumar he "had a criminal record in the US from 1989 as a conspirator to import heroin and spent a total of six years in prison as a result of four convictions. He was later recruited as an agent by US drug-enforcement authorities, who after the 9/11 attacks in the US coordinated closely with the Central Intelligence Agency."

Do Governments Aid Terrorists? (Yes, Mr. Pipes, Kristol, Lieberman and Cheney, We Know They Do.)
Recently the CIA links of terrorist Abdolmalek Rigi, the leader of the Pakistan-based Jundullah terrorist organization, have been revealed after his capture and confirmed by a former US intelligence official. But this should come as no surprise since ABC news reported on our support of Jundallah years ago. Reports by Seymour Hersh and in the Telegraph newspaper and elsewhere also document our support of terrorist groups and CIA black ops to destabilize Iran.
But not only does our government aid terrorists to destabilize our supposed enemies, there are also many examples where agencies within our government have even aided terrorists planning attacks against our own country or our allies. Sometimes an FBI 'informant' has aided the terrorists, paid their rent, or helped them build bombs that later explode. Other times, while ordinary citizens are harassed by authorities at airports, visas have been purposely provided to known terrorists to enter our country or freely travel between countries.
Here are just a few examples. Feel free to comment if you can think of some examples that I have missed. (i'm going for public knowledge examples here, real out in the open stuff)
Visas:
1. Christmas bomber – visa intentionally not revoked
2. David Coleman Headley – ‘easily’ optained a visa to enter India
3. Mohammed Atta – visa for U.S. ‘not scrutinized’
4. 9/11 Hijackers – 15 of the 19 received visas from CIA run Jeddah consulate.

Terror Concerns For Next Week
In a previous post I outlined some of the neoconservative pro-war talk over Iran as well as mentioned a recent statement by our own intelligence agencies that an attempted attack in the next sixth months was a certainty. Ahmadinejad is apparently helping the issue by proclaiming to "deliver a harsh blow to the "global arrogance" on this year's anniversary of the Islamic Revolution(feb. 11).
In addition, We Are Change Vancouver, an activist group, speculates in this video below about possible terror scenarios at the Vancouver Olympics which begins on the 12th of February.
Hopefully nothing unusual will happen next week. But there are some who might have altogether different 'hopes.'
