U.S. Gives Israel Advanced Weapons to Delay War with Iran
The high oil prices might be a problem for Obama during an election year...
From AFP
THE US offered Israel advanced weaponry in return for it committing not to attack Iran's nuclear facilities this year, according to an Israeli report last night.
Citing unnamed Western diplomats and intelligence sources, the report in the Maariv daily said that during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington this week, the US administration offered to supply Israel with advanced bunker-busting bombs and long-range refuelling planes.
In return, Israel would agree to put off a possible attack on Iran until next year, after the US elections in November.

The Dangerous Misreading of Obama's 2012 AIPAC Speech
I think it's also possible he wants to do it after the election, since the giant leap in oil prices would hurt his chances at re-election.
From Excavator Blog
The writers at the Young Turks website raised the question: "Do you think Obama’s strategy to play both sides on Iran is right? Will it work to avoid a war?" This question is foolish for two reasons.
1) The war has already begun, and the totalitarian governments of America, England, and Israel are happily on the same side. As Ron Paul and others have said, sanctions against Iran are "an act of war." Economic war is war. The Israelis want to starve the Iranians, and Obama is okay with that.
2) Obama does not have a strategy to play both sides on Iran. He is fully on the side of the Israelis, and the war party in Washington. He wants to start World War III by attacking Iran, but he wants this war to appear as historically inevitable to the masses of America and the world. Israel and America must first stage a false flag attack in America to blame Iran, and destroy its image as a peaceful nation before attacking it. Otherwise, the war will not be politically or morally acceptable.
Obama is perfectly fine with having a war with Iran, but it has to be politically acceptable, and that takes "pressure to sink in," as he put it. Obama and his masters want war by stealth. They are trying to boil the Iranian frog in slow-motion, not throw it in an ocean of fire as the Israelis want.

Pro-Israeli Lobby Group Made BBC, Sky News ‘Change Narrative’ On Stories
From Prison Planet.
Ahead of a widely-expected Israeli-led attack on Iran, Britain Israel Communications and Research Centre, an elitist pro-Israeli lobbying firm, has been caught “briefing” the British mainstream media on how to present news items relating to Israel, bragging in a leaked email of how BBC and Sky News editors “changed their narrative” on stories after meeting with BICOM representatives.

MR Original – Afghanistan: Endless War for Resources
From Media Roots.
War has always been about two things: resources and control. Alongside the supposed surprise discovery of Afghanistan's $1 trillion wealth of untapped minerals, it's more than coincidental that before the US invasion, the Taliban along with the UN had successfully eradicated the opium crop in the Golden Crescent. Now 90% of the world's heroin comes from Afghanistan.
As reported by Global Research:
Heroin is a multibillion dollar business supported by powerful interests, which requires a steady and secure commodity flow. One of the "hidden" objectives of the war was precisely to restore the CIA sponsored drug trade to its historical levels and exert direct control over the drug routes.

CVN 77 G.H.W. Bush Enters Persian Gulf As CIA Veteran Robert Baer Predicts September Israel-Iran War
From Zerohedge.
Three carriers in proximity to Iran would be extremely troubling, yet fit perfectly with the story of CIA veteran Robert Baer, the man played by George Clooney in Syriana, who as Al Jazeera reports, appeared on KPFK Los Angeles, warning that Israeli PM Netanyahu is "likely to ignite a war with Iran in the very near future." It gets worse: "Masters asked Baer why the US military is not mobilising to stop this war from happening. Baer responded that the military is opposed, as is former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, who used his influence to thwart an Israeli attack during the Bush and Obama administrations. But he's gone now and "there is a warning order inside the Pentagon" to prepare for war." The punchline: "There is almost "near certainty" that Netanyahu is "planning an attack [on Iran] ... and it will probably be in September before the vote on a Palestinian state. And he's also hoping to draw the United States into the conflict", Baer explained.

Morally Indignant Sharks Circle Libya While Osama Smiles
From Lew Rockwell.
Having learned nothing from America’s trillion-dollar apiece fiascos in Afghanistan and Iraq, Washington’s national security circles are eager to invade Libya. Plans to attack Iran and/or Pakistan have been postponed. Libya’s oil riches are too good to pass up.
However, some voices of reason are still heard in Washington. Our cautious, seasoned defense secretary, Robert Gates, stated his very strong opposition to any no-fly zone and/or ground invasion of Libya, warning the US can’t risk or afford a third major war when 40% of every dollar spent by the US government is being borrowed from China or Japan...

N.Korea: ready to fight "holy war" using nuclear deterrent
Seems as if the US and South Korea want a war. They may get it.
From Reuters.
(Reuters) - North Korea's minister of armed forces said on Thursday its military was prepared to wage a "holy war" against the South using its nuclear deterrent after what he called Seoul's attempt to initiate conflict.
Minister Kim Yong-chun repeated Pyongyang's charge that the South had been preparing to start a war by conducting live-fire drills off the west coast, speaking at a rally to mark leader Kim Jong-il's rise to the country's top military post 19 years ago.
He was quoted by North Korea's KCNA news agency which regularly threatens the South but which had up to now been relatively restrained in its criticism of the military drills.

North Korea Attacks South Korea Yellow Sea Island, South Korea On Highest Non-Wartime Alert In Response, USDJPY Goes Parabolic new
From Zerohedge
Update: South Korea has scrambled F-16 jets to its west coast.
It is time to see just how much WWIII is priced into this market. WSJ reports that the Koreas may have just crossed the line:"North Korea fired artillery at South Korea's Yeonpyeong island in the Yellow Sea off the countries' west coast Tuesday afternoon, setting houses on fire. South Korea returned fire, according to residents on the island speaking on South Korea's YTN television network. A spokesman for South Korea's joint chief of staff confirmed the exchange but didn't have details except to say "scores of rounds" were fired by the North." The response: S. Korean military says it is on highest non-wartime alert after the North's shelling of island.

Feldstein, Krugman Agree: Another War Would Help

Israeli Agent Threatens U.S.S. Liberty Veteran?
More mafia like behavior...
From American Free Press.
After telling Tourney that the men of the USS Liberty “got what they deserved that day,” the man with the Israeli accent admitted he was not a doctor but rather an employee of the state which orchestrated the murder of the men aboard the Liberty. Tourney asked the man what he did specifically. He responded, “many things,” and “I do whatever my government asks of me.”
The Israeli stressed that his bosses were “not happy” with some of Tourney’s recent “activities.”...

Israel Knesset Member Declares "We Are Preparing For War"
From Zerohedge.
In an interview by Likud Knesset Member Danny Danon, speaking with WND senior reporter Aaron Klein, who hosts an investigative program on New York's WABC 770 AM Radio, the Israeli said that "Israel is preparing for a time of war...We are ready for all scenarios, and we are able to defend our civilian population. I cannot tell you how long we can wait more. But we prefer to wait and see if the international bodies are acting, or [whether] it will be only the burden of Israel, like it was in the early '80s, when the great leader, Menachem Begin, [made] the great decision to bomb the nuclear reactor in Iraq." He concluded: "We don't want this to be a war of Jews against Muslims. It should be a war of Western civilization [against] Iran." Good luck explaining that to 1.5 billion Muslims around the world...

The United States is running out of time to get its budget and trade deficits under control. Despite the urgency of the situation, 2010 has been wasted in hype about a non-existent recovery...
...Here is what can be done. The wars, which benefit no one but the military-security complex and Israel’s territorial expansion, can be immediately ended. This would reduce the US budget deficit by hundreds of billions of dollars per year. More hundreds of billions of dollars could be saved by cutting the rest of the military budget which, in its present size, exceeds the budgets of all the serious military powers on earth combined.
US military spending reflects the unaffordable and unattainable crazed neoconservative goal of US Empire and world hegemony. What fool in Washington thinks that China is going to finance US hegemony over China?
The only way that the US will again have an economy is by bringing back the offshored jobs...
...Obviously, the corporations and Wall Street would use their financial power and campaign contributions to block any legislation that would reduce short-term earnings and bonuses by bringing jobs back to America. Americans have no greater enemies than Wall Street and the corporations and their prostitutes in Congress and the White House.
The neocons allied with Israel, who control both parties and much of the media, are strung out on the ecstasy of Empire.
The United States and the welfare of its 300 million people cannot be restored unless the neocons, Wall Street, the corporations, and their servile slaves in Congress and the White House can be defeated.
Without a revolution, Americans are history.

The White House is screaming like a stuck pig. WikiLeaks’ release of the Afghan War Documents “puts the lives of our soldiers and our coalition partners at risk.”
What nonsense. Obama’s war puts the lives of American soldiers at risk, and the craven puppet state behavior of “our partners” in serving as US mercenaries is what puts their troops at risk.
Keep in mind that it was someone in the US military that leaked the documents to WikiLeaks. This means that there is a spark of rebellion within the Empire itself...

Afghanistan Mineral Riches Story Is War Propaganda
From Prison Planet
“Liberal” New York Times sells globalist occupation once more with fake news
Steve Watson

Tuesday, Jun 15th, 2010
News that the U.S. has suddenly discovered $1 trillion-worth of mineral deposits in Afghanistan, and descriptions of the bounty as a “game changer” by the corporate media, represent nothing more than crude war propaganda designed to reinvigorate public support for a failing and ever more pointless occupation.
The “liberal” New York Times, which previously brought us fantastical stories of WMD in Iraq and yellowcake from Niger, is at it once again, describing huge deposits of minerals in Afghanistan as “previously unknown”.
In a story the Times ran on Sunday, the newspaper pointed to an “internal Pentagon memo” as its source, noting that U.S. officials now believe Afghanistan could become the “Saudi Arabia of lithium”.
The article claims that “a small team of Pentagon officials and American geologists” has also recently discovered huge veins of iron, copper, cobalt and gold, that could transform Afghanistan into one of the most important mining centers in the world.
The idea that this information is new, however, is manifestly ludicrous.
In an interview with Politico, a retired senior U.S. official notes that anyone with a memory span longer than a goldfish will realise the supposedly “new discovery” is anything but that:
“When I was living in Kabul in the early 1970’s the [U.S. government], the Russians, the World Bank, the UN and others were all highly focused on the wide range of Afghan mineral deposits. Cheap ways of moving the ore to ocean ports has always been the limiting factor,” the official said...
