From Washington's Blog.
As I have previously noted, Corexit is toxic, is less effective than other dispersants, and is actually worsening the damage caused by the oil spill.
Now, two toxicologists are saying that Corexit is much more harmful to human health and marine life than we've been told.
Specifically Gulf toxicologist Dr. Susan Shaw - Founder and Director of the Marine Environmental Research Institute - dove into the oil spill to examine the chemicals present.
Dr. Shaw told CNN:
If I can tell you what happens — because I was in the oil — to people…
Shrimpers throwing their nets into water… [then] water from the nets splashed on his skin. …
[He experienced a] headache that lasted 3 weeks… heart palpitations… muscle spasms… bleeding from the rectum…
And that’s what that Corexit does, it ruptures red blood cells, causes internal bleeding, and liver and kidney damage. …
This stuff is so toxic combined… not the oil or dispersants alone. …
Very, very toxic and goes right through skin.
***
The reason this is so toxic is because of these solvents [from dispersant] that penetrate the skin of anything that’s going through the dispersed oil takes the oil into the cells — takes the oil into the organs… and this stuff is toxic to every organ system in the body. …
Similarly, marine biologist and toxicologist Dr. Chris Pincetich - who has an extensive background in testing the affects of chemicals on fish - says that Corexit disrupts cell membranes.
He also explains that EPA toxicity testing for Corexit is woefully inadequate, since EPA testing for mortality usually only requires a 96-hour time frame. His doctoral research found that fish that were alive at 96 hours after exposure to pesticide were dead at two weeks, so the chemicals were considered non-lethal for the purposes of the test.
Drs. Shaw and Pincetich are wildlife conservationists. But even industry scientists working for Exxon and the manufacturer of Corexit itself admit that the stuff is toxic.

Did BP Start Losing Containment of the Oil Well in February?
From Washington's Blog
The Deepwater Horizon blew up on April 20th, and sank a couple of days later. BP has been criticized for failing to report on the seriousness of the blow out for several weeks.
However, as a whistleblower previously told 60 Minutes, there was an accident at the rig a month or more prior to the April 20th explosion...
But the trouble was just beginning: when drilling resumed, Williams says there was an accident on the rig that has not been reported before. He says, four weeks before the explosion, the rig's most vital piece of safety equipment was damaged....

New BP Tube Isn't Working And Other Oil Spill Articles On Washington's Blog
From Washington's Blog. Professor of Mechanical Engineering Estimates 70,000 Barrels of Oil Leaking a Day
The Gulf oil spill is much worse than originally believed.
As the Christian Science Monitor writes:
It's now likely that the actual amount of the oil spill dwarfs the Coast Guard's figure of 5,000 barrels, or 210,000 gallons, a day...
And also from New BP Insertion Tube Isn't Working
BP's new insertion tube inside the leaking oil pipe - unfortunately - isn't doing very much.
Specifically, the Miami Herald points out that - according to the Coast Guard - the spill is getting worse in spite of the insertion tube:
The massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill is growing despite British Petroleum's effort to siphon some of the spewing crude from its ruptured deepwater well, the U.S. Coast Guard official leading the cleanup warned Tuesday.

And from Cryptogon U.S. COAST GUARD THREATENED CBS NEWS CREW WITH ARREST FOR FILMING OIL SPILL DISASTER; COAST GUARD SAID THAT THEY WERE ACTING UNDER AUTHORITY OF BRITISH PETROLEUM; “THIS IS BP RULES. IT’S NOT OURS.”
As well as Air Tests from the Louisiana Coast Reveal Human Health Threats from the Oil Disaster
I will just add this disturbing photo of a giant black orchid of oil about to smudge itself across much of the gulf from NASA.

Washington's Blog: Goldman Sacked?
Washington's Blog covers the Goldman Sachs indictment.
The video included in the article is essential to see, as Dylan Ratigan does a good job in describing how lame faced and blatant the corruption on Wall Street and in Washington is.
Ratigan mentions in the video how the attorney generals on the state level have been 'castrated' and have lost much of their power to go after corruption, as that power has been transferred to the federal level, where of course it can be more easily controlled, as we know Washington is already bought off by Wall Street.
The parade of corrupt scum marches on! Are the nooses ready?
Reminds me of another post I made a long time ago about the Christmas bomber. It detailed how an unnamed intelligence agency had asked the State Department NOT to revoke the visa of Mutallab. Asking the intelligence agencies before acting on their own intelligence is what represents a new system of 'coordination' on the federal level. Yes, coordination for easier corruption.
