Wheeler Smoke Bomb Story Is Clearly Bogus

One of the many issues about Wheeler is that he had been involved in a lengthy legal fight with a couple building a new home across the street in a historic district of New Castle, a project opposed by Wheeler.
The dispute may have become contentious but Wheeler's attorney, Bayard Marin, said "I can't recall a confrontation" and "Everything seemed to be kept within normal bounds."
Thornblom discounted speculation Wheeler would have been involved in an alleged smoke bomb incident at the construction site of the house.
"This is so out of character and I can tell you right now, all of us at West Point went through demolitions and mine-clearing technique training and even how to construct field expedient napalm. If Jack had wanted that house disappointed or burnt down, he would've done it. Nobody would have known about it. And he certainly wouldn't have been stupid enough to leave his iPhone there," Thornblom said...

TIMES AND LOCATIONS IN WHEELER HOMICIDE
Dec. 13
• John P. Wheeler III parks his vehicle in a garage on Martin Luther King Boulevard near the Wilmington Train Station.
• Neighbor later reports that for four days over Christmas, a television in Wheeler's Third Street home in Old New Castle was blaring around the clock.
Dec. 28
• Wheeler is believed to be on an Amtrak train from Washington to Wilmington.
• 11:30 p.m.: Firefighters discover a smoke bomb in a house under construction across the street from Wheeler's. He and that home's owners had been involved in a legal dispute. Officials have not linked Wheeler's death to the smoke bomb incident.
• State fire officials report that several low-powered devices -- commonly used to smoke out small animals -- caused minor damage. Fire officials say they have no suspects but investigators had hoped to speak to Wheeler about the incident.
Dec. 29
• 6 p.m.: Wheeler enters the Happy Harry's drugstore on Del. 9 in New Castle and asks the pharmacist for a ride to Wilmington. The pharmacist offers to call a cab. Wheeler declines and leaves.
• 6:40 p.m.: Wheeler enters the parking lot adjacent to the New Castle County Courthouse in Wilmington holding his right shoe in his left hand and tells a Colonial Parking attendant his briefcase has been stolen. He is seen on surveillance video shuffling back and forth, apparently confused and disoriented. He leaves about 25 minutes later.

• 3:30 p.m.: Wheeler is spotted in the area of 10th and Orange streets in Wilmington.
• 8:30 p.m.: Surveillance video captures Wheeler wandering through the Nemours Building at 10th and Orange streets. Several individuals approach him, because he appears disoriented or confused. But Wheeler declines their help. He's dressed differently than the previous day.
Wheeler's body ends up in a Newark trash bin.

• 4:20 a.m.: A Waste Management refuse truck starts its route through Newark emptying trash bins, including the one containing Wheeler's body.
• 10 a.m.: Wilmington police are called to investigate a body found at Cherry Island Landfill.
• Medical Examiner's Office rules the death a homicide.
• 2 p.m.: Newark police are contacted after it is determined the body came from there.
Jan. 2
• Newark police identify the 66-year-old Wheeler as the victim.
• Newark police crime-scene team spends the day at Wheeler's home.

What was Mr. Wheeler Doing In Wilmington?
John Wheeler was last seen alive and captured on surveillance cameras near, as well as inside, the Nemours Building in Wilmington around 8:30pm on December 30. It's part of a complex of buildings related to the chemical giant Dupont, which also has main offices nearby. The hotel where Mr. Wheeler was staying is also nearby, the Hotel Du Pont. (Why Mr. Wheeler was staying at a hotel in Wilmington is also an interesting point, since his house was less then ten miles away in the town of New Castle.)
I havent been able to find a full tenant list for the Nemours building, but on google maps it could be clearly seen that Greenberg and Traurig is one of the tenants of the building. It might be of interest that Greenberg and Traurig is a firm associated with 9/11 financing plots by some as well as having important connections to the Bush family as well as 9/11 law suits.
An office of the Secret Service is just two blocks down the road on North King Street.

John Wheeler's Final Days: Asking Friends For Car Rides, Missing Briefcase, Crying, Holding His Shoe...
Could he have been looking for a tracking device in his shoe? Could his briefcase have contained documents with which he wanted to expose something? Was he murdered because he was a whistleblower? Everything seems to point to this indeed.

John P. Wheeler III walked into the Happy Harry's pharmacy on Del. 9 in New Castle at 6 p.m. last Wednesday with an unusual request.
"He said, 'Can you give me a ride to Wilmington?' and that was a flag," said pharmacist Murali Gouro, who had filled prescriptions for the former Pentagon official in the past. "He looked like he was a little upset."
Gouro said he offered to call a cab, but Wheeler declined and left the store. "He looked a little different," Gouro said.
The picture formed Tuesday of Wheeler's final days depicted a man disoriented and so disheveled that he was mistaken for a homeless person -- a stark contrast to the New Castle resident's reputation as an accomplished public servant in three presidential administrations.
About 40 minutes after leaving the pharmacy, Wheeler turned up at the New Castle County Courthouse parking garage on King Street in Wilmington, erratically searching for his car, according to employees and surveillance video made public Tuesday.
An employee at the garage said she tried to help Wheeler, who was carrying his right shoe in his left hand and said someone had stolen his briefcase. The 66-year-old Wheeler was blocks away from where his car was parked in a garage on MLK Boulevard near the train station. Wilmington Parking Authority officials said he was a monthly customer.
Two days later, on New Year's Eve, police impounded Wheeler's car, said Drew Horseman, finance director for the parking authority. Earlier that day, Wheeler's dead body fell out of a trash truck at Cherry Island Landfill.
People who encountered Wheeler on Wednesday night -- and recognized his face from news reports this week after his death -- say he was disoriented and rambling about his brother, mother and a Hertz rental car.
Cathleen Boyer, a security guard at the courthouse, said she was called down to the parking garage just before 7 p.m. after an attendant reported "a homeless man in the garage."
"He came out of the bottom level," Boyer said. "He had dirt on his right leg. His eyes were red, like he was crying or something and he said he was robbed."
Boyer said Wheeler did not smell of alcohol and that his speech wasn't slurred. He wore a black suit jacket, black pants and a white shirt, she said.
Boyer walked out of the building with two state employees when they encountered Wheeler. The two state workers offered him money.
"He told them he didn't want any money. He said 'I have plenty of money,' " Boyer said.
A graduate of West Point, Harvard and Yale, Wheeler led a prominent life in the federal government and nonprofits.
Boyer said the man then said he was staying at an old hotel nearby and that he had to get there. He then walked off.
An FBI spokesman downplayed the agency's involvement, which was triggered because of Wheeler's past position as special assistant to the secretary of the Air Force from 2007 to 2009.
"I don't want to get into details about what that assistance is right now, but it's pretty low key," said Rich Wolf, spokesman for the FBI field office in Baltimore.
Farrall said investigators have not determined where Wheeler was killed. On Monday, they ruled out his home at 108 W. Third St. in Old New Castle.
Over the past three days, no one has answered the door at the house, which sits on a slope overlooking Battery Park and the Delaware River. In the kitchen, several wooden floorboards are missing and the area is roped off by yellow evidence tape strung from the stove across two wooden chairs.
