To Avoid Counting Civilian Deaths, Obama Re-Defined “Militant” to Mean “All Military-Age Males in a Strike Zone”

More from Mr. Nobel Peace Prize...

From Cryptogon.

Virtually every time the U.S. fires a missile from a drone and ends the lives of Muslims, American media outlets dutifully trumpet in headlines that the dead were ”militants” – even though those media outlets literally do not have the slightest idea of who was actually killed. They simply cite always-unnamed “officials” claiming that the dead were “militants.” It’s the most obvious and inexcusable form of rank propaganda: media outlets continuously propagating a vital claim without having the slightest idea if it’s true.

Bugsplat.

"The term bugsplat is used by the United States military for civilians that get killed in drone attacks..."

From Tribune.

During his stay in Pakistan, Clark plans to collect photographs of places that have been affected in the war against terror, particularly by drone attacks, says a statement issued by Reprieve and interact with local artists from Pakistan, whereas Bernard is currently researching on “an unholy alliance between technology, war and capitalism” with a grant awarded to her by the UK Arts Council. The artists also plan to interview people from Waziristan.

The term bugsplat is used by the United States military for civilians that get killed in drone attacks and has been used in the title to highlight the damage done by the drones.

Rare Photographs Show Ground Zero of the Drone War

From Wired.

The epicenter of global terrorism, and the CIA's highly classified drone war against extremist groups, is a black hole on the map -- a region of Pakistan off limits to outsiders, and especially Westerners. It’s an area so dangerous that even the Pakistani military avoids it. The CIA may have launched 70 drone strikes in tribal Pakistan in 2011 alone. But Americans, like the rest of the world, have no idea what the area looks like, or who lives there.

One resident of North Waziristan wants to expose the conflict. Noor Behram has spent years photographing the aftermath of drone strikes, often at personal risk. Working with Islamabad lawyer Shahzad Akbar and London-based human rights activist Clive Stafford Smith, who are helping get his photos to the outside world, Behram provided Danger Room with dozens of his images, none of which have ever been published in the United States.

More Drone Death Strikes on Civilians From CIA/Peace Laureate Obama

From The Nation

WANA (Online) – A Pakistani teenager, who recently joined a protest rally against US drone strikes, was killed in an attack by the CIA-operated spy planes in North Waziristan tribal region, a campaigner against the missile strikes said on Tuesday.
Sixteen-year-old Muhammad Tariq of North Waziristan had joined hundreds of tribesmen in the rally against drone strikes in the Pakistani capital on Friday. The protesters had called for an immediate end to the strikes, saying they killed many civilians, reported Rediff.com.

Tariq was killed with his cousin Waheed, 12, in a US drone strike on Monday night near Mirali, a key town in the restive North Waziristan tribal agency, said Karim Khan, who is leading a campaign against the missile attacks.
Khan, who belongs to Mirali, had lost his son in a drone attack last year.

He filed a case against the former CIA station chief and several top US officials in a police station in Islamabad for what he said was the murder of innocent tribesmen in drone strikes.

At least four people were killed in Monday night’s drone strike on a house and a vehicle, according to local media reports.
It was the fourth strike in Waziristan in five days.

On Sunday, US spy planes fired missiles at a house in North Waziristan and killed at least six people.

NATO'S Massacre at Majer, Libya

From Activist Post

Dr. Franklin Lamb, Contributing Writer
Activist Post

Majer, Libya -- Located about 20 miles east of the ancient Roman city of Leptis Magna, six miles south of Zliten, and off Libya's southern coast across the Mediterranean from Rome, Majer was a picturesque village known for the fine quality of its dates and is claimed by locals to produce the best tarbuni (date juice) in Libya.

Family members, eyewitnesses and Libyan government officials claim that NATO's air-strikes at Majer killed 85 people, including 33 children, 32 women and 20 men. Reporters and visitors were shown 30 of the bodies in a local morgue, including a mother and two children. Officials and residents explained that approximately 50 bodies were taken to other locations for family burial and most of the injured rushed to hospitals at Tripoli.

At Majer, NATO chose to bomb three neighboring compounds, and visitors examined a total of five bombed-out houses. There was no evidence of weapons at the farmhouses, but rather mattresses, clothes and books littered the area. One badly injured 15-year old young lady, Salwa Ageil Al Jaoud, had earlier written her name inside one notebook found amidst the rubble. She was later visited in hospital and attested, like the witnesses at Qana had, that there was no military presence in the homes that were bombed.

NATO used the same tactic that Israel used during the two Qana massacres. After the first three bombs dropped at around 11:00 pm (2100 GMT) on Monday, August 8, many residents of the area ran to the bombed houses to try to save their loved ones. NATO then instantly struck with more bombs slaughtering 85 Libyans...

Warmongering New York Times Silent On Libya University Massacre By Nato Bombing

The grey lady is dripping with blood these days. The day the New York Times goes out of print, will be a day to celebrate. John Burns should be behind bars for inciting genocide along with other cowardly "American" armchair fascists such as David Horowitz.

From Infowars.

Press TV reports that NATO has bombed a university in Tripoli, killing students and staff. “New images have emerged showing the aftermath of an alleged NATO air raid targeting Tripoli’s Nasser University. The attack reportedly left many university staff and students dead,” reports the Iranian state-funded network. “Libyan state television says dozens of others were also injured.”
The bombing was not reported by CNN or The New York Times.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, “evidence of casualties [in Libya] has been thin, despite more than 160 cruise missile strikes by US and British forces, and at least 175 sorties by those and French and a Canadian jet fighter in the last 24-hour count.”

Evidence is “thin” because the corporate media refuses to believe the Libyan government and does not actively research claims of civilian deaths. Humanitarian wars are usually reported as surgical strikes and when the reality of dead civilians can no longer be denied, they are explained away as collateral damage.

Soon after NATO began bombing the country, officials denied civilians die in its bombing raids. Only the death of Gaddafi loyalists and other Libyans criminalized by the United Nations are reported killed in the air strikes.

Last week the New York Times insisted bombing raids in heavily populated urban areas do not kill civilians. “The Libyan government has a growing record of improbable statements and carefully manipulated news events,” wrote John Burns, following his Pentagon script closely. “Sightings of civilian casualties have been rare.”

The New York Times also reported that aluminum tubes were sighted in Iraq. Due in part to the widely reported lie that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, the United States invaded the country and subsequently killed over a million Iraqis...

Civilian casualties? It wasn't me...

124 Tomahawk land attack cruise missles were launched targeting air defense sites around Tripoli and elsewhere in Libya.

About one minute into this video you can see what Tomahawk explosions look like:

Tomahawk missile variants von chipmuck

On 20 March 2011, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced that three B-2 stealth bombers had attacked Libyan airfields using reportedly 40 JDAMs (later reports said 45 GBU-31/B weapons were used) to destroy hardened shelters used by Libyan fighter-bombers.

Ok want to have a look at a Libyan airfield? Here is an aerial view of their biggest airfield:

i.e. surrounded by civilian residential areas.

Then you have a video which claims to show civilian casualties from the bombing campaign in libya.

Tornado Jets have also been blasting Gaddafi's presidential compound in downtown Tripoli. The article claims civilians there were being used as human shields.

But according to Defense Secretary Gates this is all hogwash because Libya may be placing corpses at bombed sites.

"The truth of the matter is we have trouble coming up with proof of any civilian casualties that we have been responsible for," Gates said in the television interview.

That's right, our bombs and cruise missles don't kill civilians. At least they don't, if you say they don't and you control the media.

I guess this report of the Osprey pilot rescue crew who rambo style opened fire on libyan civilians is also not true, since the military denies it.

And according to the LA Times the dead children from a bombed farmhouse are somehow just so suspicious. Must be Gaddafi's propaganda it seems to say. The villagers who witnessed it are part of the scheme. They are actors on Gaddafi's payroll apparently.

Now who is the conspiracy theorist LA Times?

If the pentagon says it didn't happen. It didn't. We know they never lie.

"It wasn't me."

Next.

Operation Odyssey Dawn must continue forward!

Interesting the name. Doesn't it sound like the beginning of something a bit more then just a no-fly zone?

Western Air Strikes Kill 64 in Libya — Health Official

From Prison Planet.

TRIPOLI, March 20 (Xinhua) — Sixty-four people have been killed and 150 others wounded in the air strikes launched by western forces since Saturday, Libya’s health officials said on Sunday.
Western warplanes have bombed civilian targets in Tripoli, causing the casualties, the state television reported.
Several fuel tanks were also hit, it said.
Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi Sunday called the Western attacks as “a crusader war” against the Libyan people, saying that the air strikes were designed to “terrify the Libyan people” and were “terrorist means.”

Afghan Officials Allege that 65 Civilians Were Killed in U.S. Military Operation

From Cryptogon and The Washington Post.

Afghan government officials alleged Sunday that a U.S. military operation in the remote mountains of northeastern Afghanistan killed 65 innocent people, including 22 women and more than 30 children, the most serious allegation of civilian casualties in months.
The governor of Konar province, Fazlullah Wahidi, said that NATO forces launched the operation four days ago in the Ghaziabad district, a desolate area near the province’s northern border with Pakistan, where a lethal mix of insurgent groups operate.
“According to locals in the area, American helicopters have been constantly bombing the village and have caused tremendous civilian casualties,” Wahidi said in an interview. He said he received his information from residents “trapped” in the village.
American commanders went into crisis mode Sunday, launching an investigation into the incident to find out what happened and prevent the episode from damaging relations with the Afghan government.

Second Soldier Alleges Former Tillman Commander Ordered "360 Rotational Fire" Against Civilians in Iraq

From Truthout

The first soldier to reveal the order, Spc. Ethan McCord, told World Socialist Website News reporter Bill Van Auken last April that the commander, Lt. Col. Ralph Kauzlarich, told his men in different settings and at various times that they were to have a new "S.O.P." (standard operating procedure) whenever an IED went off. At that time, in early 2007, the Bush "surge" was just getting underway, and IED attacks and troop deaths had risen sharply. McCord told Van Auken: "He [Kauzlarich] goes, 'If someone in your line gets hit with an IED, 360 rotational fire. You kill every motherf*cker on the street.'" McCord said that he had also witnessed the order carried out, saying: "I've seen it many times, where people are just walking down the street and an IED goes off and the troops open fire and kill them."

US Drone Strike Destroys House Full of Children in Pakistan

Who's endangering what lives now? Go to hell Pentagon puppets.

From Antiwar.com

The Obama Administration’s policy of escalating drone strikes took another hit today, after the explosion from a drone attack against the house of “suspected militants” in North Waziristan also destroyed a neighboring house full of women and children.

The combined toll from the blast was 20 people killed, with at least four women and three children among the slain. At least 13 other civilians were also reported wounded, including a number of other children...
