Jobless America threatens to bring us all down with it

A depression may have been averted, but nothing has been fixed. This is the depressingly downbeat message that came across loud and clear from last weekend's annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund.

The destructive trade and capital imbalances of the pre-crisis era are back, banking reform appears stuck in paralysing discord, public debt in many advanced economies remains firmly set on the road to ruin, and the spirit of international co-operation that saw nations come together to fight the crisis has largely disappeared.
This was not where we were meant to be in tackling the underlying causes of the crisis and returning the world to sustainable growth. Yet beneath this sense of frustration at lack of progress – and at international organisations such as the IMF and the G20 to bring it about - there is an underlying truth that's often left unspoken; many of the problems in the world economy right now are not international at all, but US specific and can only really be solved by America itself.

I don't want to belittle the difficulties faced by some of the peripheral eurozone nations, but in the scale of things they are a sideshow alongside the malaise which has settled on the world's largest economy.
Ignoring the troubled fringe, Europe as a whole is to almost universal surprise starting to look in reasonable shape again, and for reasons that I will come to, Europeans are in any case not nearly as fixated by high unemployment as their American peers...

A journalist on assignment for The Guardian newspaper was arrested and beaten by police officers at the site of a peaceful demonstration on The Esplanade near the G20 security fence in downtown Toronto at approximately 11:00PM on June 26, 2010. Having been punched in the stomach and elbowed in the back by officers, it is believed that Jesse Rosenfeld, a 26-year-old writer from Toronto, was then taken to the temporary detention facility on Eastern Avenue in Toronto...

Beyonce Does Fascist Corporate Propaganda for Grammy Show

Whatever the intentions of Beyonce might have been, this comes off as a revolting display of American corporate fascist asthetic. Pure evil. Absolutely fake. Cheap and without soul. A corporate attempt to celebrate thugs in body armor who are used against our own sleeping people when they actually attempt to protest, rare that might be. This is Nazi asthetic, done a la Hollywood. Will we have our own version of fascism, designed for a multicultural American population? Worshiping the power of the corporations and the state as opposed to the Nazi worship of race, folk and the state? I doubt it will ever get as far as it did with the Nazis but the corporate pigs are cheering. This is what they believe they have turned the music of rebellion, rock and roll, into, a virtually synthetic pile of artless propaganda candy.

I am not much into corporate singer songwriters, but read in this article what happens to you if you try to sing a song of rebellion today in America, you get beaten with a crowbar.

Before the attack she was doing videos like this. Again it's not my taste in music, but compared to Beyonce it seems like Bob Dylan.

Anyway here is what the CIA and the record industry corporate pigs seem to love. Men in body armor arresting reporters and beating up protesters. There will be alot more of this as the economy collapses into a pile of rubble and out of work people get fed up and head out on to the streets only to be met by the body armor thugs who are now impersonated by dancers prancing around on Grammy stages. This is not a Grammy performance, but real life, when a dumb downed population is trained to hate anti-war liberals and libertarians and love their corporate masters. The corporate machine is mean and ugly and coming to a town near you to protect its multinational soulless interests.
