COMMENT: Gee, Hosni Mubarak is a man of bad luck. First he has a reported ‘stroke’ while being ousted from Egypt. Now, his heart fails in the middle of questioning over alleged abuses of power. Perhaps this inconvenience is a little like Milošević’s death while being held at the Hague during his extended trial, or like many other coincidence cases.

So the story is that Mubarak and Ben Ali are now both desperately ill — indeed, it is said, in a coma. And there have been a handful of sharp comments, wondering what the “Deposed Dictator Syndrome” (DDS) actually is — and how convenient it might be as a protective device against assassination.
