Protesters also managed to set fire to the Trafalgar Square Christmas tree. I see all this as positive. I am more concerned about what happens in countries like the US where people are all asleep and uninterested in protesting. Resistance can slow down or even turn around the powers that be. Where there is no resistance, you become a nice pavement to be run over on.

A car carrying Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall was attacked by protesters but the couple were unharmed, Clarence House has said.

Protesters kicked, threw paint and smashed a window of the car which was travelling along Regent Street in central London.

A spokeswoman said the couple later attended the Royal Variety performance as scheduled.
